Web content, services and apps must comply with State and Federal law (e.g., copyright laws, Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) and Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)), and reflect the professional image/brand of the District, its employees, and students. Web content, series and apps must be consistent with the Board’s Mission Statement and staff- created web content, services and apps are subject to prior review and approval of the Superintendent before being published on the Internet and/or utilized with students.

 

Personal information includes any information which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name, address, and date of birth), your devices, payment details, manner of facility usage, and even information about how you use a website or online service.

 

In the event our site contains links to third-party sites and services, please be aware that those sites and services have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy information about how they collect and use personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our site.

Financial Information Collected

As part of our membership registration and billing process, we collect certain financial information from members, including but not limited to payment card details, billing addresses, and transaction history. This information is used solely for processing payments, managing memberships, and fulfilling our administrative obligations as part of the gym facility operated in conjunction with the Spring Lake Public Schools system.

 

We partner with third-party payment processors who are compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), and we do not store full payment card information on our own systems. We implement appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to help protect your financial data and maintain its confidentiality and integrity.

 

In accordance with applicable laws, including Michigan state law and relevant federal privacy regulations (such as FERPA where applicable), members may request access to or deletion of their personal data, including financial information, when and where such requests are permitted by law. Please note that certain records may be retained for a period of time as required by school district policy or applicable regulations.

Off-Line Data Collection

 

All District Technology Resources (as defined in Bylaw 0100) are the Board's property and are intended to be used primarily for business purposes. The Board retains the right to access and review all Information Resources (as defined in Bylaw 0100), including but not limited to electronic and voice mail, computer files, data bases, and any other electronic transmissions contained in or used in conjunction with the Board's computer system/network, telephone system, electronic mail system, and voice mail system. Staff members shall be notified that they have no expectation that any personal information/data maintained, stored, or transmitted on or through such systems is confidential or private.

 

Review of such information may be done by the Board with or without the staff member's knowledge. The use of passwords does not guarantee confidentiality, and the Board retains the right to access information in spite of a password. A staff member's refusal to permit such access may be grounds for discipline up to and including discharge.

 

District Technology Resources are to be used for business and educational purposes. Personal messages via Board-owned technology should be limited in accordance with the Superintendent's guidelines. Staff members are encouraged to keep their personal records and personal business at home.

Video Surveillance On-Site

 

The Board of Education authorizes the use of video surveillance and electronic monitoring equipment at various school sites throughout the District. The video surveillance/electronic monitoring equipment shall be used to protect Board property and assets from theft and vandalism, through deterrence and video documentation. The system is not designed nor intended to protect individuals from being victims of violent or property crimes, nor to detect other potentially illegal and undesirable activities that may occur, although information may be used as evidence in such cases.

Security of Your Personal Information

 

When we collect and process personal information, and while we retain this information, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.

Although we will do our best to protect the personal information you provide to us, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and no one can guarantee absolute data security. We will comply with laws applicable to us in respect of any data breach.

 

You are responsible for selecting any password and its overall security strength, ensuring the security of your own information within the bounds of our services.
